With all of the information on health and wellness being offered on the Internet and print media as well as the proliferation of fitness centers, it is clear that many people are interested in staying healthy. The field of antiaging medicine developed over the past 15 years. There is a segment of the American population that wants to stay healthy and even slow down the effects of aging. Our medical center is here to fill that need.
When a person goes for their yearly “checkup,”, a cursory history and physical is performed and a few, very few, laboratory tests are ordered. These usually include a blood count, chemistry panel and, of course, a lipid panel. While these tests may uncover a problem that requires further investigation – anemia, liver or kidney problems, “cholesterol” issues – the patient is often told that “everything is fine” and sent home for a year. Unless the cholesterol level is 200 or more, at which point a statin drug is prescribed.
There is so much more to understanding a person’s health. And we now have highly sophisticated laboratory testing to identify how well a person is aging.
Besides the typical tests done in the offices of primary care doctors, there is a myriad of measurable parameters that can give much deeper insight into a persons health status and potential for achieving a long life, free of illness until the last one. Gerontologists call this “squaring of the curve” and they list as their goal a life that extends into the late 80’s, 90’s or even 100 with good health and a high functional state until near the end. Unfortunately, the health curve over time is usually not square. Instead, health starts to decline in the 50’s or even 40’s in the present day.
This program is for people that want to stack the odds of living long and well in their favor.
There are various theories as to the causes of again. These include:
The common thread is “REDOX” biology – oxidative damage to our biomolecules – membranes, proteins and our genetic material itself. Damage to the computer program known as DNA leads both to disease and the inability to repair our very structure.
We look much more deeply into the “cholesterol” mystery. We send your blood to a lab that uses NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) to fractionate your cholesterol into its subfractions – small and large LDL, HDL, VLDL (Triglycerides) and we discover if your LDL articles are small and sticky (think clogged arteries) or large and bouncy and thus harmless.
We look at “oxidative damage,” the ultimate cause of the accumulated damage that manifests as aging. Please refer to the testing section of this website but to summarize, we are able to obtain accurate measurements of oxidized LDL cholesterol (the molecule that actually causes plaguing in the arteries), oxidized cell and organelle components, fragments of DNA that indicate oxidation damage, and therefore potential mutagenic changes, to our Library of Life and the most important molecule we make in every cell of our body to neutralize free radical damage, which underpins the aging process - intracellular glutathione.
We measure the levels of essential and toxic metals, the levels of Omega 3, 6, 7 and 9 fatty acids which make up the structure of all of our membranes and act as precursors to regulatory substances generally called prostenoids as well as levels of thyroid, cortisol and sex hormones. Balancing the later alone will improve bone, brain and skin health.
Our Elite Anti-Aging program is the most comprehensive available in the Midwest. If you want to know your actual health status and risks for future disease AND take specific measures to mitigate damage to age gracefully, the Water Center for Biological Medicine’s Elite Pathway is designed for you.

Tailored to you.We look at symptoms and complaints, your medical history, your family history, your diet and your lifestyle. He gets to the bottom of the issues, not just treat the symptoms. We don’t get too hung up on “diagnoses” but rather work on restoring health. He also looks extensively at diet and digestion as a basis to most medical issues; we promote a low carb, grain-free, sugar-free diet with focus on eating real food, limited processed food.
When a new patient comes to see Dr. Waters for the first time, he does a history, physical and consultation that lasts about 1½ hour, and included in your consult is a session with our structural therapist for about 30 minutes. We require a series of laboratory testing that includes lipids, liver/kidney functions, electrolytes, iron status, blood sugar status, urinalysis, in-depth thyroid function, vitamin D level, DHEA, cortisol level and mineral analysis. There will be additional tests needed based on what he finds during the consultation, such as hormones, heavy metals, digestive analysis, cardiac analysis, Lyme testing, anti-aging marker, etc. (these are done on an as-needed basis). Read more about our comprehensive laboratory testing here. Treatment plans are individualized for each patient. There will be specific diet changes, nutritional supplements, sometimes prescription medications and IV treatments and/or Low Dose Antigen Therapy depending on the findings. Treatments will be explained and quoted after he writes the order. |
It works.Would you like a FREE evaluation? If you decide you would like to make an appointment, we would like you to have your recent medical records and our medical questionnaire filled out and mailed back to us for Dr. Waters to review. He will then give us the okay to schedule your first appointment. |
